Pope County deputy killed, 2 other officers hurt, in shooting

CYRUS, MN -  A sheriff's deputy was killed and two other officers were wounded following a shooting in West Central Minnesota's Pope County Saturday night.  It happened in the small town of Cyrus, which is about 20 miles southwest of Glenwood, as officers tried to arrest a man for domestic assault.  The suspect fired on officers, killing Pope County Sheriff's Deputy Josh Owen.  Deputy Brody Merrill and a Starbuck Police Officer were also shot, but are expected to be okay.  The suspect died at the scene.  Deputy Owen died his 44th birthday.

The Minnesota BCA is investigating the deadly shooting.
