Southern North Dakota Turkey Farm facing Avian Flu outbreak

(Fargo, ND) -- The North Dakota Department of Agriculture is confirming the state's first outbreak of avian flu in 2023.

A commercial turkey flock in southern North Dakota recently tested positive for the virus.

State Veterinarian Ethan Andress says more cases are likely now that spring migration is underway.

Andress recommends keeping flocks inside as much as possible and keeping sick fowl away from other birds.
