(St. Paul, MN) -- Minnesota Governor Tim Walz has signed the Paid Family and Medical Leave Act into law.

The law gives workers in the state up to 12 weeks of paid time off for things like a serious medical condition, pregnancy, and childcare.  Employees can claim a maximum of 20 weeks of paid leave in a single year. Walz took to Twitter to celebrate the bill signing, writing "no Minnesotan has to make the choice between a paycheck and taking time off to care for a new baby or a sick family member."
