(Fort Rice, ND) -- One motorcyclist is seriously injured, with others receiving minor injuries, following a multi-vehicle crash at Fort Rice.

The North Dakota Highway Patrol says the multi-vehicle incident occurred on Highway 1806 just before 11:50 a.m. on Monday. Deputies say Dean Kadrmas (52, Dickinson, ND), was traveling southbound on the highway on his motorcycle when he noticed another motorcycle stopped in the roadway attempting to turn. Kadrmas hit the brakes and swerved left. Another motorcycle, driven by Jenifer Murray (40, Dickinson, ND), was behind Kadrmas and swiped his bike in the process, causing him to fall off the vehicle. Idajane Rodger (49, Laurel, MT) A passenger in Kadramas' bike, received non-life threatening injuries.

A third motorcycle, driven by Curtis Velosa (56, Belfield, ND), struck Kadrmas' bike, causing Velosa to be thrown from the motorcycle. The crash gave Velosa serious injuries.

A pickup, driven by John Kuntz (66, Mandan, ND), was behind the group of motorcycles who had just passed his vehicle. As Kuntz was moving to avoid the accident, a fourth motorcycle, driven by Alan Pavlicek (52, Dunn Center, ND), struck the pickup in the rear bumper.

Both Velosa and Rodgers were taken to Sanford Hospital for their injuries. Two other riders, Kadrmas and Pavlicek, received minor injuries. No other riders were injured in the multi-vehicle crash. No riders were wearing helmets, and the pickup driver was not wearing a seatbelt.

No charges were filed in the incident. The incident is still under investigation by the North Dakota Highway Patrol.
