(Minot, ND) -- A former Minot city electrical inspector is accusing the local government of forcing him out of his position for reporting violations of the electrical code.

A complaint filed in North Central District Court alleges the City of Minot repeatedly ignored concerns raised by Todd Mickleson and blocked his efforts at multiple sites to comply with electrical codes and regulations. Mickleson is seeking back pay and benefits totaling over $75,000. In June 2022, he was allegedly accused of "insubordination," got offered a 20% pay decrease, and less than a week later was told outright to resign or be terminated.

The city is yet to officially respond to the complaint.
