(Tamarack, MN) — Environmental experts are considering a proposal that would bring a new mine to north central Minnesota.
The State Department of Natural Resources is processing the proposal from Talon Metals Corporation, which outlines plans for an underground nickel mine near the town of Tamarack in Aitkin County. The mine would supply Tesla with nickel, so the automaker can make electric car batteries. The DNR’s next steps include working on an environmental impact statement and holding a public meeting to get feedback on the proposal.
