2 killed in car/motorcycle crash west of Minot

(Update: 6:20 p.m.) — The identities of those involved in a fatal motorcycle and vehicle crash have been revealed.

The North Dakota Highway Patrol says a motorcycle driven by Vernon Eckel (62, Burlington, ND) and ridden by Pamela Eckel (64, Burlington, ND) was traveling on Highway 2, four miles west of Minot. Authorities say a separate vehicle, driven by Adam Trueblood (36, Minot, ND) was stopped at a stop sign and attempted to cross Highway 2. Vernon’s motorcycle then struck Trueblood’s vehicle.

Both Vernon and Pamela were pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities say the two were not wearing helmets. Trueblood is currently not facing charges.

MINOT, ND – Two people died in a car/motorcycle crash west of Minot Thursday afternoon. The State Patrol says the motorcycle was traveling on Hwy 2, about four miles west of Minot, when a car, driven by a 36-year old Minot man, tried to cross the highway and was hit by the cycle.

The victims were a 62-year old man and a 64-year old woman, both from Burlington, North Dakota. The crash remains under investigation.
