UPDATED: North Dakota State Senator and 3 family members killed in plane crash

(Fargo, ND) -- WDAY Radio has learned that North Dakota State Senator Doug Larsen, his wife, and their two young children died in a plane crash Sunday night near Moab, Utah.

Larsen, a state Senator since 2021 representing District 34 in Mandan, his wife, Amy, and their two young sons died as a result of a plane crash in Utah.

The Grand County Sheriff’s Office says they received a report of an isolated incident involving a single aircraft taking off from the Canyonlands Regional Airport and then crashing into the ground at just after 8 p.m. local time in Utah.

The Grand County Sheriff’s Office, Grand County EMS, Moab Valley Fire Department, Canyonlands Regional Airport and Classic Air Medical responded.

Shortly after responding, Classic Air Medical located the downed aircraft in a remote area bordering Canyonlands Regional Airport.
