Two Grand Forks businesses fail alcohol compliance checks

(Grand Forks, ND) – Two Grand Forks businesses failed alcohol compliance checks this week, according to the Grand Forks Police Department.

The department conducted 12 alcohol compliance checks across Grand Forks. The two businesses that failed were La Cantina Tex-Mex Cuisine, located at 1730 13th Avenue North; and Sakura Japanese Steakhouse, located at 3250 32nd Avenue South.

Grand Forks Police uses youth from the community, under the age of 21, to complete the compliance checks. They are conducted by having a youth enter an alcohol establishment, under the supervision of a police officer and in accordance with Grand Forks city ordinance 21-0228. The underage youth attempts to purchase alcohol, while, in no way, not attempting to conceal their age. If the sale is refused, the business passes the check. If a sale is completed, it is observed by the officer, and appropriate enforcement action is taken.

Multiple compliance checks are done each year by Grand Forks Police.
