(St. Paul, MN) -- Minnesota's attorney general has announced a settlement with a software company responsible for a data breach that affected millions of customers.

Multiple states sued a company called Blackbaud after a 2020 data breach that exposed information such as Social Security numbers and payment card numbers.  The company didn't uncover the breach for several months after it happened, then failed to notify affected customers for several additional months after the discovery.

Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison says the state will receive $780,000 dollars from the nearly $50 million dollar settlement.
