(Fargo, ND) -- UPDATE AND CORRECTION: Jake Sherman at Punch Bowl News has tweeted that Minnesota Congressman Tom Emmer has dropped out of the race to serve as house speaker. A staffer for Representative Kelly Armstrong shared that tweet with WDAY Radio News. The Armstrong staffer was not the source for the WDAY report that Emmer is out of the race.

A staffer for North Dakota Congressman Kelly Armstrong has informed WDAY Radio News that Minnesota Congressman Tom Emmer is "out" as a candidate to serve as the next house speaker.
