Public meetings over Dakota Access pipelines start today

(Bismarck, ND) -- The U.S. Army Corp of Engineers is hoping to get the community's input later tonight as it prepares to decide the future of the Dakota Access Pipeline.

The Corps is finishing up its Environmental Impact Statement before it decides whether the pipeline should continue to run underneath the Missouri River upstream from the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe Reservation.

The assessment is to help determine if the federal government should reissue a permit for the pipeline, which has been in operation since 2017.

Two public meetings are scheduled at the Bismarck Radisson Hotel today and tomorrow from 6 to 9 p.m.
