Investigation into death of North Dakota Senator reveals mechanical errors not the cause of crash

(Bismarck, ND) -- Federal investigators have released a report revealing new information about the plane crash that killed North Dakota Senator Doug Larsen and his family in Utah.

The single-engine plane crash occurred shortly after take off. Investigators determined mechanical issues did not cause the crash. The report also includes accounts from witnesses, including one person who says they saw the plane quickly lose altitude after it took off, and then heard two distinct impacts.

The exact cause of the crash remains under investigation.
