North Dakota deer gun season opens this week

(Bismarck, ND)  --  Deer hunters are getting ready for gun season which opens on Friday.

There have been more than 53-thousand deer gun licenses issued this year.

The Game and Fish Department says that's about eleven-thousand fewer licenses than in 2022.

White-tailed deer numbers are down due to an outbreak of EHD [[ Epizootic Hemorrhagic Disease ]] in central regions of the state a couple of years ago.

The tough winter last year has also affected populations in some areas.
