Minnesota Congressman Dean Phillips apologizes for remarks about VP Kamala Harris

(Washington, DC)  --  Minnesota Congressman Dean Phillips is apologizing for comments he made about Vice President Kamala Harris.

Phillips issued the apology on social media, saying he "shouldn't have referenced other people's opinions" in remarks made to The Atlantic.

Phillips told the publication that Harris "was not well-positioned" to be vice president, saying others have told him she is not prepared and "doesn't have the right competencies" to hold that office.

In the same article, Phillips said he hasn't seen those deficiencies and has enjoyed the time he's spent with Harris.

The Minnesota congressman has launched what many see as a long-shot bid to win the Democratic presidential nomination, saying the party needs an alternative to President Joe Biden.
