(Grand Forks, ND) -- A federal court ruling over the NCAA's transfer eligibility rule could impact the University of North Dakota.

A judge issued a temporary two-week restraining order against the regulation that requires student athletes who switch among Division 1 schools to wait a year before competing. The association says it will start notifying colleges and universities about the decision. UND says it had not heard from the NCAA about the ruling as of yesterday afternoon. The change could have a major effect on the Fighting Hawks men's basketball team and guard Tyree Ihenacho who returned to Grand Forks this fall.

The next hearing in the case is scheduled later this month.
