(St. Paul, MN) -- Lieutenant Governor Peggy Flanagan is praising Minnesota's new laws protecting renters from unfair treatment by their landlords.

Flanagan and other state lawmakers spoke yesterday about the laws that went into effect with the start of the new year. Landlords are now required to clearly disclose all mandatory fees, to maintain a minimum temperature of 68-degrees in all units during the winter and to give at least 14-days notice before any eviction.

Flanagan said the new laws should help renters feel more confident about safety and stability inside their homes.
