North Dakota state climatologist dies

(Bismarck, ND) -- North Dakota's state climatologist, Annan Akyüz has passed away after a battle with cancer. He died on January 5th, just days before his 63rd birthday.

In addition to providing long-term forecasts for North Dakota, Akyüz taught weather classes at North Dakota State University.

Students say his classes were among the most popular because of the way he injected humor into his presentations.

Akyüz is survived by his wife and two children.
