Semi fire closes southbound I-29 for several hours

(Christine, ND) -- A semi caught fire on I-29 near Christine in Richland county yesterday afternoon after one of the truck's tires blew.

The driver was able to safely get out of the truck before the trailer became engulfed in flames. The fire closed the southbound lanes of I-29 for several hours. The trailer was loaded with rubber mats headed to Illinois from Jamestown.

The truck driver, Geral Carlos Sala Romero, was cited for driving with a suspended license.
