(Bismarck, ND) -- A recent study shows poorly designed roads are a major factor when it comes to deadly car crashes in North Dakota.

The study was conducted by Dismuke Law, and places North Dakota at number three out of ten on a list of states where road design plays a significant role in fatal wrecks. These issues include a lack of proper labeling and road construction. In total, five of the 473 fatal crashes between 2017 and 2021 were caused by poor road design according to the study.

Arkansas was placed at number one on the list, while Alaska came in second.
