(Bismarck, ND) -- A Neche man is hoping to become the first Democrat to win the Governor's race in North Dakota since 1988.

Travis Hipsher outlined his four point plan to the North Dakota Monitor, One part of the plan includes finding more people to fill the state's job shortage, partially doing so through legal immigration. Additionally, he hopes to improve rural resources for economic development and mental health services, invest in manufacturing of chips and AG processing, and increase the wages and retirement benefits of National Guard members.

He has run for the state senate in the past, earning 24% of the vote against GOP incumbent Janne Myrdal.
