(Minot, ND) -- The attorney for a man set to stand trial in Minot next week for murder will not be allowed to withdraw from the case.

35-year-old Kamauri Kennedy faces charges in Minot of murder and conspiracy to commit murder in the June 2021 death of 33-year-old Domonique Kelley. Kelley's body was found in a burned vehicle on Minot's southeast side.  Kennedy and his attorney William Skees had both requested that Skees withdraw from the case due to financial concerns. The judge rejected the requests saying it would delay the process of the case going to trial for at least six months.

Jury selection is set to begin on April 3rd in Minot.
