BISMARCK – State residents will not receive federal disaster relief for damage from the June storms until the government shutdown ends.
This comes despite FEMA assistance having been approved to cover repairs and infrastructure replacement. The Enderlin tornado contributed significantly to the damages, based on a preliminary estimate of over eleven-and-a-half-million-dollars. Meanwhile, state and local officials are preparing reimbursement requests, expecting 16-million-dollars in relief and two-and-a-half-million from the state.
A second request for August storm damage is still under federal review.
