Driver extricated from crash scene in Grand Forks

(GRAND FORKS) — On Sunday at approximately 7:58 p.m., officers of the Grand Forks Police Department were dispatched to the 900 block of North Washington Street for a passenger car that had struck a light pole.

The driver of the car was identified as 19-year-old Xavier Sosa of Grand Forks. He was operating a 1996 Honda Civic.

Sosa was entrapped in the vehicle and had to be extricated by the Grand Forks Fire Department. He was evaluated on scene by Altru paramedics but was not transported to the hospital.

Preliminary investigation shows that the Honda Civic was headed northbound on North Washington and the driver lost control of the vehicle. The vehicle spun around and went off of the road and struck a light pole.

Anyone with information or who may have witnessed the incident is encouraged to contact the Grand Forks Police Department. The Grand Forks Police Department was assisted by C.A.R.T. And U.A.S. in processing the crash scene.
