Drought conditions exist in South Dakota

(Sioux Falls, SD) — South Dakota’s drought conditions are worsening due to a recent dry cycle.

Twenty-two percent of the state is now considered in a drought. That’s up from 16 percent last week. The drought monitor shows several pockets of yellow and orange, which mean below-normal rainfall. However, forecasters say moisture from earlier this summer is helping conditions.
