FARGO, N.D. (Valley News Live) – Family and friends are showing their support for a student from Boden Meier
Meier, just 20 years old, was finishing up his freshman year at Iowa Western Community College.
On May 10, he was riding in the back of a golf cart and got into an accident.
“We didn’t really know what to think,” said Landon Meier, Boden’s twin brother.
Over a month after the accident, Boden’s family has seen some small progressions in him since he has been in the hospital.
“He’s not completely out of it, like he has some response and one of his eyes opens up and follows us a little bit. He’s been progressing out of the complete coma, but he’d still be in a coma,” said Landon Meier.
Landon says that he won’t know what Boden will be like until he fully wakes up. The accident hasn’t just affected the family. Boden’s legion baseball coach thinks about him every night.
“I went to a prayer service. I pray for him every night before I go to bed,” said Luke Rustad, Boden’s baseball coach.
During a baseball practice for Boden’s legion baseball team on Wednesday, June 11, Boden’s initials were imprinted on the dirt to show the team’s support.
The accident has even hit home to Boden’s closest friends.
“I just hope that he can get the best recovery he can. I know there are great facilities out there, and I hope that Bo can just keep staying strong, keep battling for us, and get back to the normal Bo we want,” said Sam Ovsak, Boden’s friend and teammate.
Sam is even thinking of making wristbands for their baseball team that represent
Going forward, Landon and his family just hope to see continuous progression in Boden over time.
“Everyone is treating him with so much love and care and I just know he feels that love from the community and our family and that he’s just going to keep pushing along for us,” said Landon Meier.
The family also launched an online fundraiser with an apparel store for Boden to cover medical bills during his recovery.
