Jamestown Police arrest man related to shots fired investigation

UPDATE (Valley News Live) Police have arrested 31-year-old Kwame Kane who was suspected in a shots-fired investigation in Jamestown Thursday evening.

According to Jamestown Police, 5 shots were fired around 8:40 p.m. on Thursday, October 2, in Downtown Jamestown. Police say no one was hurt in the shooting.

Using witness testimony and video footage, officers were able to identify the suspect and his address.

At 5:08am Friday, Investigators served a search warrant at Kane’s residence. During the search, officers seized a handgun. Kane’s clothing was consistent with witness descriptions.

Kane was arrested on suspicion of reckless endangerment with extreme indifference and discharging a firearm in city limits.

JAMESTOWN, N.D. – A person wanted for questioning in a shots fired investigation in Jamestown has been detained.

Authorities say a gun was fired in the downtown area around 8:40 PM Thursday, October 2, but didn’t give a specific location. No one was hurt.

At 4:40 AM Friday, Jamestown Police said its officers and the James-Valley Special Operations team shut down streets and went to an apartment building in the northwest part of the city to serve a search warrant.

At 5:25 AM, authorities said the person wanted for questioning was safely detained, several people evacuated from their apartments were able to go back in and roads shut down were beginning to reopen.

Police say details on any possible charges could be announced sometime on Friday.
