JAMESTOWN, N.D. (Valley News Live) – A Jamestown woman who had just been released from incarceration on May 13th was arrested on May 14th after fleeing a traffic stop.
A Jamestown police officer attempted to pull over 39-year-old Breona Oretta just before 1:00 P.M. on Wednesday for multiple traffic violations, including nearly striking another vehicle. The release from Jamestown PD says that she drove for several blocks without stopping before eventually pulling over on the 200 block of 8th Street E.
The officer spoke to Oretta, indicating several instances of possible impairment. She refused to exit her vehicle, a 2005 Toyota Camry, and drove off from the traffic stop.
Officers were quickly able to detain her near the 600 block of 2nd Avenue SE and complete their investigation.
Oretta was arrested on suspicion of Driving under the Influence of an Intoxicating Liquor, DUI Refusal, Fleeing or attempting to elude a Police Officer, open receptacle containing an alcoholic beverage in a vehicle, and reckless driving. She was taken to Stutsman County Corrections to await formal charges.
That Driving under the Influence charge was her second offense in a seven-year period.
