Lies to not seek reelection as President of N.D. Farm Bureau

BISMARCK, ND – The longtime president of the North Dakota Farm Bureau announced Friday that he’ll not seek reelection.

Daryl Lies, of Douglas, was elected president in 2015.

“There comes a time when change is right. Change is not always easy and not always welcomed with open arms in our lives. People sometimes have a hard time accepting, making, or engaging in change, but I believe the time is right for change to happen at the leadership level of NDFB,” he said in a statement. “That is why I will not seek re-election as president of this great organization.”

Lies said serving the membership of the bureau and representing the farmers and ranchers has been ‘one of the greatest privileges’ he has ever had.

“I never took this position lightly and hope people recognize the passion I have for agriculture and for NDFB and its members,” he said.

His successor will be elected during the North Dakota Farm Bureau annual meeting, set for November 21 and 22 at the Holiday Inn in Fargo.
