WASHINGTON, DC – Three members of Congress from Minnesota are calling on U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi and Secretary of Health and Human Services Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., to conduct a formal investigation into Medicaid fraud.
In a letter on Thursday, Brad Finstad, Michelle Fischbach and Pete Stauber call on Kennedy, Jr., and Bondi to conduct a ‘formal federal investigation into Medicaid fraud within the Minnesota Department of Human Services and the Walz administration.’
“Throughout Governor Walz’s tenure, Minnesota has been the epicenter of waste, fraud and abuse,” the members of Congress wrote. They reference the Feeding Our Future fraud scheme and ongoing Medicaid-related fraud schemes as those costing taxpayers ‘hundreds of millions of dollars.’
Most recent, they say, are fraudulent activities carried out by individuals and organizations ‘exploiting weaknesses’ across Medicaid-funded programs. These programs include the Housing Stabilization Services, autism-related services, recovery services and non-emergency medical transportation.
They call on the Department of Justice to conduct a ‘through, independent investigation.’
“Federal oversight is critical to restoring public trust, protecting taxpayer dollars, and ensuring that Medicaid funds are used for their intended purpose – supporting vulnerable Minnesotans,” the members of Congress wrote.
