(St. Paul, MN) — Minnesota taxpayers will have to cover the cost of Governor Tim Walz’s lawyers, who helped him during a Congressional hearing on immigration last month.
The state hired K&L Gates to prepare the governor for the U.S. House Oversight Committee hearing on June 12th.
On the day of the hearing, Minnesota’s budget agency sent a letter to a state legislative commission asking it to approve a 430 thousand dollar transfer from a general fund account to the governor’s office to pay for legal fees.
Meanwhile, Republican legislator Jim Nash questions why the governor’s office used an outside firm when it has its legal team on staff.
