ST. PAUL, MN — Minnesota Secretary of State Steve Simon is unhappy that a number of election ballots were left unsecured in Hennepin County last week.
Simon released a statement after learning that a courier left ballots alone in an unlocked transport van on Friday. Simon called the situation “totally unacceptable” on Monday and said his office issued a bulletin telling local election officials not to let it happen again.
The courier was fired and Hennepin County officials said it appears there was no tampering during the time the ballots were unmonitored.
