North Dakota communities, government to receive funding from HUD

WASHINGTON – Four North Dakota communities and the state are set to receive more than $9.4 million from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development through a variety of programs.

Community Development Block Grant Program

The program provides the grants on a formula basis to states, cities, and counties to develop viable urban communities by providing decent housing and a suitable living environment, and by expanding economic opportunities, for low- and moderate-income persons.

Fargo will receive $828,465; Grand Forks, $425,671; Bismarck, $405,839; and Minot, $287,456. The state will also receive $3.5 million.

Emergency Solutions Grant Program

The program is designed to assist people with quickly regaining stability in permanent housing after experiencing a housing crisis and/or homelessness.

North Dakota will receive $489,698 for the program.

HOME Investment Partnerships Program

The program provides formula grants to states and localities to be used in partnership with local nonprofit groups to fund a wide range of activities including building, buying, rehabilitating affordable housing for rent or homeownership or providing direct rental assistance to low-income people.

Fargo will receive $447,443, while the state receives $3 million.
