North Dakota testing new tech aimed at repairing road concrete faster

BISMARCK, ND — North Dakota transportation officials are testing a new technology that proponents say will streamline concrete repairs.

NDDOT sources say the “rebel-sensor” technology uses acoustical vibrations to determine the strength and durability of pavement without traditional lab testing. Authorities say the technology, which is still being tested, could significantly reduce the time and scope of traditional road repairs.

State transportation officials say North Dakota is among 12 states testing the new technology.
