Officials issue statement after potential threat in Blackduck

(BLACKDUCK, MINN) – Officials with Beltrami County are clarifying information related to a situation Saturday night at the high school in Blackduck.

At 11 p.m. Saturday night, responders were called to a location near Blackduck High School. Dispatch audio said officers were with a male subject ‘who may have just prevented an active shooting.’

Chris Muller, Emergency Services Director for Beltrami County, says no weapon was ever observed or discovered.

“A student was removed from the Blackduck School Prom due to violating school rules. An acquaintance of that student became upset with school officials and made a targeted threat towards staff,” he said in a statement to Flag Family News. “The juvenile left the school and was later located by deputies.”

Authorities say the statements were corroborated by other students, leading authorities to arrest the student for threats of violence.

The juvenile was transported to Northwest Juvenile Detention Center for terroristic threats.
