Bismarck, ND — Ranchers across the state are adopting sustainable practices to enhance soil carbon storage.
Methods include rotational grazing, improving soil management, and restoring native grasses. These practices aim to generate carbon credits as an additional revenue stream. The Nature Conservancy notes that biological carbon capture could reduce the state’s greenhouse gas emissions by nearly 27 million metric tons annually.
These methods also improve soil resilience and water retention to benefit both the environment and agricultural productivity.
