RICHLAND COUNTY, ND – Authorities in the southern Red River Valley are investigating a pair of shots fired calls late Sunday night and into Monday morning.
The Richland County Sheriff’s Office received reports of a shot fired in an area in northwest Abercrombie at 10:35 p.m. Sunday. Residents explained the sound as a single gunshot that “was very loud” in the area. Sheriff’s deputies from both Richland and Wilkin (MN) counties responded and were unable to locate the source.
Then, less than an hour later, a second gun shot fired call was received, again in the northwest corner of Abercrombie. Deputies again attempted to locate the source but were not successful.
A deputy reported a ‘loud bang’ was heard at around 1 a.m. in the same area. A resident said the bang ‘could have been a firework.’
The incidents are under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to call authorities at 701-642-7777.
