MINNESOTA – Smoke is expected to linger in the area until sometime Friday afternoon.
The Minnesota Pollution Control Agency says an air quality alert will remain in effect until 11 p.m. Friday for the state, due to wildfires in Saskatchewan and Manitoba. The agency says southerly winds are expected to push the smoke back to the north. Air quality should improve gradually from south to north beginning Friday afternoon, with improvement in fine particle levels below the alert threshold expected by the end of Friday.
A total of 55 wildfires are burning in Saskatchewan, with only five of them contained as of Thursday evening; while 122 wildfires are burning in Manitoba, with 11 reported as under control.
