Special election set to fill Hortman’s seat in M.N. House

ST PAUL, MINN – Minnesota Governor Tim Walz has announced a special election to fill the seat of state Representative Melissa Hortman.

On Friday, Walz’s office said the election will take place September 16th, with a primary set for August 12th if necessary.  Hortman and her husband were shot and killed in their home last month in what officials say was a “politically motivated” attack.  Vance Boelter has been arrested and charged with their murders.

Candidates can file for the special election starting next Tuesday.
