MCKENZIE COUNTY – A 25-year-old Watford City woman and a five-year-old female are dead after a crash Sunday morning in McKenzie County.
The North Dakota Highway Patrol responded to the crash at the intersection of Highway 85 and 23rd Street at 8:30 a.m. According to the Patrol, a 2013 Ford Fusion, driven by a 24-year-old Watford City man was southbound on Highway 85 and approaching the intersection with 23rd Street Northwest, which is south of Watford City. At the same time, a truck pulling a trailer was eastbound on 23rd Street Northwest and heading towards the intersection.
The Peterbilt disregarded a posted stop sign and struck the passenger side of the Fusion. Both vehicles came to rest in the southeast ditch of the intersection.
The 25-year-old woman, who was in the front seat on the passenger side, and five-year-old female, who was in the rear seat on the passenger side, were both pronounced dead at the scene.
The 24-year-old man was airlifted to Bismarck with serious injuries.
The driver of the Peterbilt, a 41-year-old Tennessee man, was not injured.
The North Dakota Highway Patrol is investigating.
