David Braun of NDSU Has Been Named The FCS Coordinator Of The Year

     On Friday, January 7 North Dakota State University defensive coordinator and safety’s coach David Braun was named the FootballScoop’s Coordinator of the Year at the NCAA Football Championship Subdivision. Braun joins former defensive coordinators Chris Klieman (2012) and Matt Entz (2018) to win the award.

     Braun is in his third season with the Bison and has led NDSU to the No. 1 ranking nationally in scoring defense at 11.2 points per game , third in rushing defense at 82.7 yards per game, third in total defense at 259.7 yards per game, fourth in sacks at 4.5 per game, second in third-down conversion defense at 26.3 percent, and fifth in red-zone defense at 66.7 percent. The Bison are pacing to beat a school record and Missouri Valley Football Conference defensive scoring record of 11.3 points per game set by NDSU in 2013.

     The Bison defense has been stellar all season, only giving up six touchdowns on the ground in 14 games. NDSU is only giving up 2.72 yards per rush on 425 attempts this season. NDSU has only allowed 24 red zone trips (third fewest in the FCS) this season along with racking up a school record 49 sacks entering the FCS national championship game.
