Bison Wrestler Jared Franek Has Won The NCAA Elite 90 Award

North Dakota State University’s Jared Franek has earned the 2022 NCAA Division I Wrestling Championship Elite 90 award.

The Harwood, North Dakota native is a junior who wrestles at the 157-pound class for the Bison. He has also maintained a 4.00 grade-point average while majoring in sport management with a minor in business administration.

Franek is NDSU’s 16th Elite 90 award winner across five sports. He is the second wrestler to win the award, joining Clay Ream, who won the honor in 2016, 2017, and 2018.

The Elite 90 recognizes the true essence of the student-athlete by honoring the individual who has reached the pinnacle of competition at the national championship level in his or her sport, while also achieving the highest academic standard among his or her peers.

The Elite 90 is awarded to the student-athlete with the highest cumulative grade-point average among participating athletes at the finals for each of the NCAA’s championships. In order to be eligible for the honor the student-athlete must be a sophomore or above academically and have participated in at least two years with their current school.
