UND Star Riese Gaber Will Return To The Fighting Hawks For His Junior Season

After a stellar sophomore campaign, North Dakota forward Riese Gaber has decided to come back for his junior season.

The 2021-22 Hobey Baker Award nominee did not get picked in his three years of being eligible for the NHL Draft. That makes Gaber a possible suitor for all 32 NHL franchises when he chooses to move up to the next level.

This past season Gaber was the Fighting Hawks’ leading scorer with 37 points. He scored a team-high 15 goals and was second in assists with 22, only trailing Connor Ford’s 24. Gaber also helped lead UND to unprecedented territory as the Fighting Hawks was an NCHC record third straight Penrose Cup (NCHC regular-season champion) this season.

A big reason for Gaber returning to the green and white for another season is to complete any collegiate athlete's dream of winning a National Championship. It’s safe to say he has some unfinished business this upcoming season saying, "I think the standard for any year is getting to the national tournament and making it to the Frozen Four.”
