A Former UND Football Player Will Be Inducted Into The 2022 SaskTel Plaza of Honour

The Saskatchewan Roughriders announced that former University of North Dakota wide receiver and return specialist Weston Dressler will be inducted into the 2022 SaskTel Plaza of Honour. He will be inducted on August 19, 2022.

There have been 135 individuals inducted into the annual SaskTel Plaza of Honour. The previous inductees include a pair of UND products in Lawrie Skolrood (2008) and Scott Schultz (2015). The Plaza of Honour is made up of former Saskatchewan Roughriders that have made major contributions to the tradition of the Saskatchewan Roughrider Football Club.

Dressler spent eight of his 11 Canadian Football League (CFL) seasons with the Roughriders. He played in 123 games with Saskatchewan along with appearing in nine playoff games, including a pair of Grey Cups in 2010 and 2013.

Dressler is near the top of a few major categories on the Roughriders all-time rankings. He is third in Roughriders history in receptions and receiving yards with 538 catches totaling 7,792 yards. He also sits fifth in franchise history with 50 touchdowns, including five seasons with over 1,000 yards receiving. Dressler led the CFL with 13 receiving touchdowns in 2012.

Dressler made an immediate impact in the CFL earning the Most Outstanding Rookie award in 2008. His success didn’t end after his rookie season as he made the Western All-Star Team in 2009, 2011, 2012, and 2013. Dressler also won the Grey Cup in 2013.

Prior to playing in the CFL, Dressler played for the University of North Dakota from 2004-07. While at UND he earned 14 different All-America honors, including being a four-time selection to the All-North Central Conference first team. Dressler made history during his senior season in 2007, becoming the first player in league history to earn All-NCC first team honors at three different positions (receiver, return specialist, utility) in the same season. Dressler left UND as the programs leader in most receiving categories, including receptions with 243, receiving yards with 3,382, and touchdown catches with 38.
