Minnesota State University Moorhead head women’s basketball coach Karla Nelson has announced the hiring of a new coach. Former Dragon Sarah Jacobson is joining the coach staff as an assistant coach for the 2022-23 season.

Jacobson is a Fargo, N.D., native playing for MSUM from 2019-21, starting in every game throughout the two seasons.

During the 2019-20 season, she averaged 8.8 points and 6 rebounds per game, including starting all 30 games. Jacobson also led the team logging 32 minutes per game.

The 2020-21 season was shortened, but that didn’t stop her from starting all 13 contests for the Dragons. Jacobson was third on the team averaging 10.7 points per game and second on the team with 5.8 rebounds per game.

Prior to playing at MSUM, Jacobson began her collegiate playing career at North Dakota State University from 2016-18.

Jacobson was a 2016 Fargo Shanley High School graduate and won the 2016 North Dakota Miss Basketball Award. She also was a four-time all-state honoree for the Deacons. During her high school career she set the Class A career record with 2,371 points.
