North Dakota State University men’s basketball head coach David Richman has announced the hiring of Alvin Nyangau as the program's Director of Operations.

Over the past three seasons Nyangau worked for the Upper Iowa University women’s basketball team. The Peacocks are an NCAA Division II school playing in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference. He spent two seasons as a graduate assistant at Upper Iowa before being promoted to assistant coach for the 2021-22 campaign.

Nyangau graduated from NDSU with a bachelor’s degree in sports management in December 2018. During his time as a student, he spent three years as the NDSU women’s basketball head manager coordinating videos for the program.

Nyangau was excited to return to NDSU saying, “I am thrilled to be returning to my alma mater. NDSU and the Fargo community helped mold me into the man I am today.” He continued, “the Bison Basketball program values character and integrity over everything, and this is a great opportunity to be part of a successful program that shares the same core beliefs as I do.”

NDSU went 23-10 overall this past season finishing second in The Summit League and advancing to the program’s fourth straight Summit League Tournament championship game.
