Fargo Force Week Six Recap

The Pucks and Paws game was one for the dogs, as Sioux City got the win on Friday, October 28th, with a dominant 4-0 victory.  The Musketeers took a two goal lead into the first intermission after goals by Sam Deckhult and Sawyer Scholl gave them a lead that would never be threatened. 

The Musketeers control the play in neutral ice and outshot the Force 11-6 in the opening stanza. The Musketeers would get a goal in the second and third periods by Ryan Conmy who was named the games 2nd Star. The 1st Star of the game went to Sioux City goaltender Croix Kochendorfer who stopped all 23 Fargo shots en route to his first shutout of the season.

Then Saturday, October 29th, the matchup was as advertised for the Musketeers on a very Haunted Hockey night! The Force rebounded from being shut out on Friday to tally four opening period goals, two of which were scored by Cole Knuble.  Sioux City got a goal early in the 2nd period by Easton Zueger and another in the third period by Sam Deckhut to cut the lead in half. However, Fargo responded with three straight goals to finish off the game with a 7-2 victory.  Fargo got all 7 of their goals on special teams as they tallied five power play goals and two short handed goals on the night.

In addition to Knuble’s pair of goals, the Force got two goals from Verner Miettinen, and a goal apiece from Boris Skalos, Kyle Smolen and Anthony Menghini. The Force were 5 of 8 on the Power Play while holding Sioux City to 0 of 6 for a perfect night on the penalty kill while also generating those two short handed goals. That night’s 3 Stars were 1st Star Cole Knuble and 2nd Star Verner Miettinen, who each had two goals and two assists, and 3rd Star Mac Swanson who had two assists.  Matej Marinov started in net for the Force who stopped 34 of 36 shots and raised his record on the season to 3-0-0 in goal.

The Force will return to the ice this week for a two game set against the Tri-City Storm on Thursday and Friday. The puck drops at 7:05 both nights at Scheels Arena.
