Wild fall to Jets in regular season home finale

The Minnesota Wild were looking to end the home portion of their regular season schedule on a high note, but that didn’t happen. The Wild would fall to the Jets 3-1, ending their season series winning three out of four games.

Minnesota’s largest concern is the health of Marcus Johansson who was knocked out of the game after being hit into the boards with under a minute remaining in the game. The injury would be listed as upper body, but it looked to be his ribs. The Wild are hoping the injury isn’t as serious as initially feared. He will be re-evaluated Wednesday.

Winnipeg scored a pair of first period goals by Adam Lowry (3:53) and Mark Scheifele (13:10) and took a 2-0 lead into the first period intermission. Marc-Andre Fleury only saved two of the four shots he faced in the period.

Neither team would score in the second period. Kirill Kaprizov would put an end to the scoring drought 1:59 into the third period, cutting the deficit to 2-1. This was Kaprizov’s 40th goal of the season. Later in the period Mason Appleton would score for Winnipeg (14:06) extending the Jets’ lead to two once again at 3-1.

In the end Marc-Andre Fleury would save 17 of the 20 shots he faced. Ryan Reaves and Marcus Foligno would both leave early for voicing their displeasure of how Winnipeg played at the end of the game. Foligno would get a game misconduct, while Reaves fought Adam Lowry of the Jets.
