Twins take rubber match from San Diego

<p>The Minnesota Twins and San Diego Padres squared off in their series final on Thursday afternoon. The Twins would prevail with a 5-3 rubber match victory.</p>

<p>Bailey Ober had a quality start, tossing six innings with six strikeouts while, but did give up three runs.</p>

<p>The scoring began immediately with San Diego’s Fernando Tatis Jr. hitting a leadoff 369 foot line drive home run. The Twins would score a run in the second inning on a Joey Gallo RBI walk, tyring the game at one apiece.</p>

<p>In the fourth inning, the Padres would regain the lead on a Juan Soto RBI double. Minnesota would once again tie the ballgame in the bottom half of the inning on a 433 foot solo home run by Kyle Farmer, making it 2-2.</p>

<p>Rougned Odor hit a 382 foot solo home run in the fifth inning, giving San Diego its third lead of the game, this time 3-2. In the seventh inning, the Twins would put their stamp on the game. Minnesota tied the game 3-3 on a Max Kepler RBI fielder’s choice groundout. The next batter was Carlos Correa and he gave the Twins their first lead on a two RBI double, making it 5-3 Twins. Minnesota would be able to hold off San Diego over the final two innings and earn the win.</p>

<p>The Twins will now welcome the Chicago Cubs to Target Field for a three game weekend series beginning on Friday night at 7:10 p.m. Sonny Gray will get the start on the mound for Minnesota.</p>
