FARGO, N.D. – North Dakota State women’s basketball assistant coach Dylan Geissert has been elevated to associate head coach, announced by head coach Jory Collins on Wednesday afternoon.

Geissert has spent the last four seasons with the Bison as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator.

“Coach Dylan has played a critical role in all facets of our program,” said Collins. “He has made his mark as recruiting coordinator and has been instrumental in putting our roster together. At the same time, his ability to develop post players, design and implement our philosophies, and mentor our team has been just as impactful. He is a rising star in this profession and I’m excited to continue working with him as our associate head coach.”

Geissert helped the Bison win their most games since 2004-05 last season with an 18-12 overall record and advance to the Women’s National Invitational Tournament (WNIT) for the first time in program history. He has also aided in the development of seven All-Summit League selections during his time at NDSU, including Elle Evans, who earned the programs first Summit League Freshman of the Year honor this past season.

“It is an honor to take the next step of my coaching career here at NDSU,” said Geissert. “I’m thankful for the continued guidance of coach Collins and his confidence in my ability to help our program grow and reach our ultimate goal of winning a Summit League championship. I look forward to the continued growth of our program both on and off the court and will continue to help develop the young women on our team to the best of my abilities.”

Prior to joining the Bison in 2019, Geissert was a graduate student manager at the University of Kansas from 2017-19. The Herington, Kansas native coordinated the team's practice squad, helped with video, scouting, game preparation and assisted in the player development process. He also helped with the Brandon Schneider Summer Camps.

Geissert got his start in coaching as a male practice player for the Emporia State women's basketball program and served as a student assistant under current NDSU head coach Jory Collins for three seasons. While working with the Lady Hornets, Geissert was a part of five-straight MIAA tournament championships and a final four appearance in 2015.

Geissert earned his bachelor’s degree in business administration in 2016 from Emporia State and his masters in digital content strategy at Kansas in 2018.
